Russell "Russ" Louis Flandrick, age 83, of New Richmond, passed away on Sept. 5, 2008, at home with his loving family around him.

Russell "Russ" Louis Flandrick, age 83, of New Richmond, passed away on Sept. 5, 2008, at home with his loving family around him.

Russ was born to Harold W. and Lullabell (Mealey) Flandrick on Sept. 29, 1924 in St. Paul, Minn. The family moved to a New Richmond, Wis. farm in 1942. Russ married Irene Dulon on May 12, 1945, and later divorced. He married Georgene (Diddie) Madge Sweet on Aug. 27, 1949.

Russ farmed most of his life living in the Hudson/Roberts/New Richmond areas and at times drove over the road semi-tractor/trailers. He owned the Silver Spur Bar in Somerset, Wis. for several years in the later 1960s. He served his community as Council President at Christ Lutheran Church as well as County Supervisor on the Star Prairie Township Board.

Russ enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping trips with his family, relatives and friends.

He retired completely from farming at the age of 81, although he would still ride his ATV to check on his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lullabell; Diddie, wife of 45 years; three infant daughters (Annette, Nanette and Renee), and beloved brother, Richard (Dick).

He is survived by two sons: Gary (Dee) of Champlin, Minn. and Michael (Mitch) (Treena) Flandrick of New Richmond, Wis.; seven daughters: Joan (Larry) Molenaar of Champlin, Minn.; Sheri (Alan) Cox of Pipestone, Minn.; Viki (Joe) Neuberger of New Richmond, Wis.; Suzanne (Jack) Barker of Amery, Wis.; Suzette (Mike) Tremblay of Hudson, Wis.; Marilyn (Juan) Ortega of Hammond, Wis., and Nanci (Randy) Johnson of Hudson, Wis.; 48 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Janet (Larry) Martell and Joyce Mante; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation was held on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at O’Connell’s Funeral Home in Hudson, Wis. Private interment will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Star Prairie Township.

Honorary pallbearers were all of Russ’ grandchildren.

Cremation services coordinated by the Countryside Crematory of Baldwin with funeral services entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Homes.
