Until Hillside Elementary opened, there were two parent associations for elementary school children in New Richmond, one at Paperjack (formerly East) and one at Starr (formerly West).
Now that a third elementary school is up and running, Parent Association chairperson Heather Harris said they will combine the groups to form one elementary parent association.
“We figured with so many changes this year it would work well to keep all the parents on the same page,” Harris said.
Meetings will be held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. There will not be a meeting in December.
“We will take turns meeting at each of the schools,” Harris said.
The first meeting was Monday, Sept. 15, at Hillside Elementary.
“Meetings give parents an opportunity to help decide what fund-raisers the schools will participate in,” Harris said. “Parents will also learn of volunteer opportunities, meet other parents, ask the principals questions, decide how funds are spent and help influence what special events happen for our kids and families throughout the year.”
Parents are notified of meetings through information sent home with their children from school, but here is a schedule of upcoming meetings:
• Oct. 13 meeting at Starr
• Nov. 10 meeting at Paperjack
• Jan. 12 meeting at Hillside
• Feb. 9 meeting at Starr
• March 9 meeting at Paperjack
• April 13 meeting at Hillside
• May 11 meeting at Starr
