Spring Valley teenagers injured after falling off moving car

Riding on the trunk of a moving car resulted in three Spring Valley teenage girls being thrown from the vehicle with two being taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Officials with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department say that on Tuesday evening Travis Driscoll, 16, of rural Spring Valley was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Beretta, eastbound on 770th Avenue in the Town of Gilman, when the accident happened.
Riding on the trunk of the car were April Jund, 15; Emily Affolter, 14; and Aubrey Schwede, 14.
The group was traveling to the nearby home of one of the victims when the accident happened and officials are not sure what exactly caused the girls to fall off the vehicle.
Jund was taken in a private vehicle to the River Falls Area Hospital, but then transferred to Regions. She was later moved to Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul were on Thursday morning a hospital spokeswoman reported that Jund was in stable condition.
Affolter was taken to the Baldwin Area Medical Center and then transferred to Regions. On Thursday morning a Regions spokeswoman reported Affolter's condition as good.
Officials are not sure if Schwede was injured in the accident.
Also in the vehicle at the time was Cory Mandelkow, 20, of rural Elmwood, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.
Pierce County Sheriff's Department officials are continuing their investigation of the incident.
