Spring Valley man dead after Sunday morning 'cycle crash
A 51-year-old Spring Valley man died early Sunday morning in the town of Baldwin after he failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed his motorcycle into a ditch.
A 51-year-old Spring Valley man died early Sunday morning in the town of Baldwin after he failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed his motorcycle into a ditch.
Thomas A. Ellefson,was driving a Honda VTX eastbound on Rose Lane at 2:36 a.m. when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Highway BB, lost control of the motorcycle, tipped over and slid across the intersection, coming to rest in a ditch.
Ellefson was transported by Baldwin ambulance to the Baldwin Area Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by the St. Croix County medical examiner.
Ellefson was not wearing a helmet. His death was the ninth traffic fatality in St. Croix County this year.
Assisting St. Croix deputies at the scene were officers from Baldwin and Woodville police departements and United Fire & Rescue.
The crash remains under investigation.
