New Richmond senior Hayley Peterson was named to the All-Middle Border Conference volleyball team when the 2008 team was announced last week.
Somerset was represented by a pair of first-time choices on the All-MBC team. Senior Britni Weise and junior Alicia Potting were both chosen for the first time.

Peterson ranked among the top hitters in the conference this season.
This was Peterson’s third year to letter with the Tiger varsity. She is known as one of the most complete players in the conference.
“Her leadership was demonstrated with versatility; her offensive and defensive skills,” said Tiger coach Becky Ahlbrecht. “She played all elements of the game well.”
Peterson led the Tigers in a number of areas. She topped the team in kills and serves and was among the leaders in all hitting and defensive areas.

Weise and Potting both saw action on the Spartan varsity last season, but they moved into primary roles on the team this season.
Weise became the team’s leading middle hitter. She was a fearless blocker. On the attack she read blockers well, recognizing whether to go through with her hit or tip to avoid the block.
Potting has exceptional leaping ability, which helped her deliver powerful hits from her outside hitter role. She also was one of the steadiest defensive players on the Spartans this season.
