Letter: Marketing director will be missed

To the Editor:
It was with complete amazement, felt by many, that met the news of the abrupt termination of the position of the City’s economic development director by the New Richmond Common Council last week.
Supposedly the position was eliminated for economic reasons. The paradox is that economic reasons should have dictated nurturing of the position to keep New Richmond viable and competitive.
The many friends of Jerry Brown, the man who held the eliminated position and who will be leaving our daily lives, wish him very well. We have appreciated the deep vision for New Richmond’s future that Jerry held, his sincere concern for the town’s well being, his constant shared font of ideas to browse among and consider, and his commitment to the community volunteer life.
He will be sharing these assets in Amery, where he plans to continue making his home. New Richmond’s loss is Amery’s gain.
Thank you, Jerry, for enriching the lives of your New Richmond friends.
