Ten Panthers picked for Dunn-St. Croix football

The surprise second place finish by the St. Croix Central football team this fall resulted in 10 Panthers being selected for the 2008 Dunn-St. Croix Conference Football Team.
Four Panthers were named to the all-conference first team. On offense, quarterback Andrew Thomley was the only Panther named to the first team. Named to the first team on defense were senior Jesse Krizan and juniors Luke Brown and Cody Olson.
The Panthers took seven spots on the all-conference second team. Seniors Brian Poulin and Jake Rock and junior Brian Aldworth were picked for the second team defense. Second teamers on offense were four juniors: Zach Gillis, Stephan Wood, Brown and Olson.
Senior Dan Hauge was named as an honorable mention all-DSC offensive lineman.
Team awards for the Panthers have also been announced for the season. Krizan was voted as the Most Valuable Player for the Panthers after his breakout season at defensive end.
The Best Offensive Player Award went to senior R.J. Moore.
The Best Defensive Player Award was shared between Krizan and linebacker Brian Poulin.
The Most Improved Player Award went to junior Jon Stephens.
Receiving the Rookie of the Year Award was sophomore Joe Poulin.
Scout Team Player of the Year was senior Ray Wold.
Thirty-three Panthers were letter winners this season.
Here are the Panther statistical leaders for the season.
Rushing: Zach Gillis, 751 yards; R.J. Moore, 435 yards; Jon Stephens, 270 yards; Jesse Krizan, 159 yards.
Passing: Andrew Thomley completed 64 of 151 passes during the season. The completions covered 936 yards and produced five touchdowns.
Receiving: Luke Brown, 15 for 237 yards; Jesse Krizan, 11 for 178 yards; Brian Aldworth nine for 119 yards; R.J. Moore eight for 126 yards; Isaac Lindahl, six for 70 yards; Casey Perry, five for 74 yards.
Interceptions: Brian Poulin two; Jon Stephens, Joe Poulin, Luke Brown, Cody Olson, each with one.
Sacks: Jesse Krizan 13, Cody Olson four, five others tied with one.
Tackles: Brian Poulin 112, Jesse Krizan 97, Cody Olson 89, R.J.
