2009 Public Budget Hearing
Chairman Schachtner called the public hearing on the proposed 2009 budget to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were Plourde, Demulling, Germain, Gunderson, Schachtner and Steve Scheidler (auditor). The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Scheidler reviewed the proposed budget, stating the Town had 1.5% growth. Municipal levy limit is set at 2% by the State: $707,422. Town revenues and expenditures down -.35%.
Discussion on Somerset Youth Hockey donation and whether donation will be a line item on the budget or if it should come out of the Park Fund. Consensus was Town will use the existing park fund money for these requests, however all recreation related requests must submit an application to the Parks & Rec Committee prior to appearing before the Town Board.
Motion by Plourde, seconded by Demulling to close the public budget hearing at 8:03 p.m.
Special Town Meeting of the Electors
• Approval of the total highway expenditures for 2009 of $653,818: Motion by Lynn Cook, seconded by Thorne Seese to approve the 2009 total highway expenditures of $653,818. Motion carried. All voted yes.
• Adoption of 2008 Town tax levy of $707,422 to be paid in 2009: Motion by Seese, seconded by Cook to approve the 2008 town tax levy of $707,422. Motion carried. All voted yes.
• Authorize the Town Board to hire Town Officers as employees of the Town (part time/snow removal) and set the hourly wage: Motion by Wittig, seconded by Cook to authorize the Town Board to hire Town officers as employees of the Town and set the hourly wage at $23.71, with no benefits. Motion carried. All voted yes.
Motion by Seese, seconded by Cook to adjourn at 8:07 p.m.
Special Town Board Meeting
Chairman Schachtner called the special Town Board meeting to order at 8:04 p.m
Adoption of 2009 Budget: Motion by Germain, seconded by Demulling to adopt the 2009 budget. Motion carried. All members voted yes.
Donation to Somerset Youth Hockey: Consensus was to make a donation. Motion by Germain, seconded by Gunderson to postpone to December meeting. Motion carried. All members voted yes.
Meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
