Richard “Dick” Henry Kamm, age 82, of Roberts, Wis., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at the American Heritage Care Center, Hammond, Wis.
Richard was born on Sept. 2, 1926 in the town of Emerald, St. Croix County, Wis., the son of Richard and Wilhelmina (Gillis) Kamm. He was a graduate of Roberts High School. Richard married Doris Schnitzler on Oct. 2, 1948, she died on April 27, 1987. Richard later married Jean (Nelson) Fern on Nov. 30, 1991.
Richard farmed in Roberts his entire life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping friends and neighbors in need. Richard was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jean, of Roberts; eight children: Jean Prichard, Bayport, Minn.; Dan (Linda) Kamm, Ames, Iowa; Charlie Kamm, Baldwin, Wis.; Mike (Pam) Kamm, Roberts, Wis.; Melanie (Fred) Greenfield, Hammond, Wis.; Laura (Charles) Logas, New Richmond, Wis.; Pat (Michelle) Kamm, Somerset, Wis.; Fred (Liz) Kamm, Roberts, Wis.; step-children: Crystal Petresky, Menomonie, Wis.; William (Rita) Fern, Hammond, Wis.; Claudia (Mike) Shepard, Menomonie, Wis.; and James Fern, Woodville, Wis.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; sister, Lois (Fred) Adler, South Dakota; and brother, David (Mary) Kamm, Arizona.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Wilhelmina, first wife Doris I., sister Doris J., daughter Pauline, great-grandchildren Abygail Graf and Jonathon Carpenter, and step-grandson Travis Peterson.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, River Falls. Visitation was on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, River Falls, where there was an 8 p.m. Rosary service. There was also one hour of visitation before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Pallbearers were sons Dan, Charlie, Mike, Pat, Fred and grandson Tom Greenfield. Honorary pallbearers were Richard step-sons, William and James Fern, and friends Paul and Ted Casey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
