It was a close encounter of the chocolate pie kind for three St. Croix Central Middle School teachers on Monday.
To raise money for the Holiday Angels, the SCC MS Student Council hosted Pennies for Pie. Students dropped money into jars for their favorite (or least liked) teacher or staff member.
The faculty members who raised more than $50 in a two-week period got a pie to the face during Advisory Time.
Tony DiSalvo, Dawn Mohn and Laura Fern received the messy honor. Pie throwers were Tony Berg, Dana Queen and Gabrielle Nippoldt.
Principal Scott Woodington got a surprise double helping of face pie. Kids cheered DiSalvo and Fern on as they smeared Woodington’s face with chocolatey goo.
Other teachers in the running were Katie Aldous, Dan Murtha and Ramie Frankiewicz.
The school raised $265, which will be used next year by the Holiday Angels. The Holiday Angels collect funds and other donations to help families struggling financially to buy Christmas gifts.
Alicia Smith was at the school to accept the donation on behalf of the Angels.
She said, “We thank you very, very much because every little bit helps.”
