Vandals hit golf course

St. Croix National Golf and Banquet Center in Somerset was visited by vandals this past week.

St. Croix National Golf and Banquet Center in Somerset was visited by vandals this past week.

“What looked like bananas were smeared on the windows and we found a small package out front that looked like it was tried to be set on fire,” said Doug Hoskin, co-owner of St. Croix National.

Hoskin notified the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department because this is the third time the facility has been vandalized since he and his partner, David Westby, bought the facility in March.

During the summer, Hoskin said vandals stole the condenser out of the air conditioning unit for the copper.

“It cost us $3,000 to replace the unit – all for about $150 worth of copper,” he said.

The next incident happened in the fall when eggs were smeared on the windows of the facility.

Hoskin said notifying the police was simply to increase patrols in the area.

“It’s a nuisance more than anything,” Hoskin concluded.
