Alvin J. Jeske, age 83, of Glenwood City, Wis., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at his home in Glenwood City, Wis.
Alvin J. Jeske, age 83, of Glenwood City, Wis., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at his home in Glenwood City, Wis.
Alvin was born April 19, 1925 in the Township of Forest, Wis. to William and Ida (Sanrinski) Jeske Sr. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Forest, Wis.
Alvin was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in the Philippines until injured. He was hospitalized in New Guinea before his discharge.
Alvin drove milk truck and school bus before going to work for the Glenwood City School District bus maintenance. He drove for Midland Co-op and later owned and operated Al’s Small Engine Repair.
Alvin married Helen King Aug. 17, 1946. To their union four children were born: Diane, Geraldine, Arvid and Ronnie.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and four sisters, Fritz, William Jr., Robert, Bernice and Herb, Esther Loock, Rosella Yougndahl, Shirley Jeske and Ella Koosmann; two grandsons, Jeffery Dittman and Braedon Jeske; great granddaughter Caitlyn Fregine; and son-in-law Gene Dittman.
Alvin is survived by wife Helen of Glenwood City, Wis; children Diane Dittman of Emerald, Wis., Geraldine Wolbert and husband David of Menomonie, Wis., Ronnie Jeske of Glenwood City, Wis., and Arvid Jeske and wife Jeannie of Glenwood City, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother Ida Ohman and Orville Jeske and wife Louise all of Glenwood City, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Diane Jeske and Arleen Jeske both of Glenwood City, Wis. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, Wis. with Reverend Ralph Thompson officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood City, Wis. Friends were invited to call at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
