A 19-year-old Hudson man and his eight-year-old sister were injured when their car was broadsided by a pickup truck Sunday night in the town of Hudson.

Timothy M. Casa De Calvo III was airlifted from the scene to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department.

His younger sister was taken to the hospital by ambulance and released after being treated for some minor cuts, a family member said.

Christin Casa De Calvo, Timothy's older sister, said he had a green light and was making a left turn onto southbound Hwy. 12 from Badlands Road when his 1997 Ford Taurus was hit by a northbound pickup truck.

The driver of the 1997 GMC pickup truck was Gregory L. Sanderson, 47, also of Hudson, according to the sheriff's department. Sanderson wasn't seriously injured in the accident, the sheriff's department said.

Christin Casa De Calvo said authorities told the family that Sanderson had been drinking.

The accident happened at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday. All of the occupants of the vehicles were wearing seat belts, the sheriff's department said.

Casa De Calvo, a student at Century College, had just celebrated his 19th birthday on Friday.

He remains in Regions Hospital with serious abdominal and head injuries, his older sister said.
