The Board began their meeting at the high school site at 5:00 p.m. for a walk-thru of the building and returned to the District Office at 6:20 p.m. to conduct the rest of the meeting.
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Hinz in accordance with notice given the New Richmond News and WIXK Radio.
ROLL CALL: Board Members Present – Marilyn Duerst, Greg Gartner, Rick Hinz, Chris Skoglund
Board Members Absent – Neal Melby (arrived at 7:09 p.m.), Bryan Schafer, Marty Wold
Administration Present – Morrie Veilleux, Brian Johnston
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Marilyn Duerst made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Greg Gartner seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Monthly Financial Statement Brian Johnston reviewed the monthly expenditures and revenues for February with the Board.
FACILITIES & TRANSPORTATION
Vehicle Replacement Request Greg Gartner made a motion to purchase a 2008 Dodge Caravan from Bernard’s for $13,395.00. Marilyn Duerst seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
Neal Melby arrived at 7:09 p.m.
PRESENTATION Joe Huftel, Administrator from the New Richmond Campus of WITC, discussed possible partnership opportunities with the School District of New Richmond and WITC.
DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
Coaching Staff Evaluation Procedures Board members were given handouts of 2008-09 Supervision and Evaluation of High School Head Coaches. Discussion of WASB Resolution Chris Skoglund made a motion to approve sending a letter from the Board of Education addressing the concerns raised in WASB President John Ashley’s letter addressing Wisconsin Retirement System’s contribution rate increase to be sent to majority and minority leaders, local state reps and the governor. Marilyn Duerst seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0. Chris Skoglund made a motion to adjourn to Executive Session at 8:22 p.m. Marilyn Duerst seconded the motion. Yes – Duerst, Gartner, Hinz, Melby, Skoglund No – Motion carried 5-0.
ANTICIPATED EXECUTIVE SESSION
Adjourn to closed session pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1) (e) Deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session. • Teacher Contract Negotiations • HS-to-MS Conversion Project Bidding Process RECONVENE AND TAKE ANY NECESSARY ACTION
The Board reconvened to open session at 9:04 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Chris Skoglund made a motion to adjourn at 9:05 p.m. Greg Gartner seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.
