Brewers’ second baseman Rickie Weeks flew to Phoenix after Sunday’s game, to check out the left wrist he injured in the win at St. Louis.
Weeks said he felt pressure on the wrist on his final swing, when he struck out against Todd Wellemeyer to lead off the contest.
Team doctors put a brace on the wrist and he’ll have an MRI as well as an exam by hand specialist Don Sheridan.
He’s the doctor who performed surgery on Weeks’ opposite wrist in 2006, to heal a bad tendon.
In 2005, Sheridan did another surgery on Weeks’ left thumb to repair a torn ligament.
Brewers’ manager Ken Macha refuses to speculate on what might happen to Weeks who might be the team’s most improved player this season.
He worked hard on both his hitting and his defense, and it showed with a .517 slugging percentage and a .272 batting average.
Weeks has nine homers, tied for the team lead with Prince Fielder.
