An aerial view of New Richmond would have looked like a child with chicken pox on May 15 as clusters of students dressed in red took to the streets to perform various service projects for Service Learning Day.

Service Learning Day began several years ago and has become a well known day of service for the high school students. While performing tasks to benefit the community, the students gain real world experience that relates to many of the lessons they study in school.

For example, students enrolled in the high school’s auto body shop class were on hand to check the fluids and air pressure in vehicles that visited the car wash.
