A sea of black and orange poured out of New Richmond High School May 22 when more than 200 seniors graduated and left the school for the last time.

Giggles mixed with sniffles echoed in the hallways and seniors with tears running down their cheeks and smiles on their faces were scattered throughout the school.

During the ceremony, the seniors listened intently as words of encouragement were given by their peers.

Aaron Zimmerman, class president, welcomed the group.

Valedictorians Steve McCarthy and John Peper delivered speeches.

McCarthy focused on the many accomplishments the Class of 2009 had made over the years.

Peper encouraged his peers to create themselves instead of find themselves.

Emotional performances by the Kammerchor Choir and Wind Ensemble left some seniors in tears.

Isolated claps and applause were heard throughout the gymnasium.
