Wisconsinites have saved more than $1 million in drug costs the past two years by using a discount card issued by groups like the United Way.

The program is called Family Wize and Brown County residents who call 211 are told about the discount card.

Lisa Clark, who manages the 211 line for the United Way in Green Bay, says the program is open to everyone regardless of income.

Family Wize teams up pharmacies with drug makers that agree to forego part of their profits, and the size of the discount depends on the drug that's chosen.

Rock County residents have saved the most in Wisconsin under the Family Wize program, almost $200,000 in the past two years.

The program's Web site lists hundreds of brand name and generic drugs with discounts. You'll find the Web at FamilyWize.org.
