The application deadline for the vacant chief position closed on Friday, July 31. Names have not yet been released.
Next, the applications will be reviewed at the Public Safety committee meeting on Aug. 11. The pool will be narrowed down to about 10 applicants at that time.
The village board will review those 10 applications, and narrow them down to about five.
No interviews have been scheduled at this time.
The position became opened after a formal complaint against former Chief Ricci Prein was filed and found to have merit for dismissal last August. His request for reinstatement was denied through St. Croix County Circuit Court on Feb. 3.
