The Green Bay Packers will start going over the game plan today for their Sunday match-up against Detroit at Lambeau Field.
Receiver James Jones says we’ll probably see more quick, short passes against the Lions.
Veteran Donald Driver says the Packers have fallen short this year in their yards after catches – and receivers’ coach Jimmy Robinson told the players on Monday to step it up.
Stats Incorporated said Green Bay had the NFL’s fifth-highest yards after catches through four games, with a total of 539.
Last week at Minnesota, the Packer receivers netted 200 yards after their catches, thanks mainly to a couple of big receptions by tight end Jermichael Finley.
Green Bay is 2-2. Detroit comes in at 1-4.
Running backs Quinton Ganther and Ryan Torain auditioned for the Packers Tuesday. Both have NFL experience.
Ganther played 17 games for Tennessee before he was cut Sept. 11. He had a total of nine carries for 61 yards.
Torain started a game in his rookie year with Denver last season, before suffering a knee injury.
He had 12 carries for 68 yards in that contest.
Meanwhile, the Packers took another $1.3 million off their salary cap when they signed veteran tackle Mark Tauscher to a one-year deal on Monday.
Tauscher is getting a $200,000 signing bonus, $700,000 in base salary, and $400,000 worth of incentives which count against the cap.
