There’s now a four-way tie for the WIAC men’s basketball lead.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater blew a chance to keep first place to themselves, when it lost at home to Platteville last night 79-to-73.
Both those teams are now 6-2 along with UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh.
Jeff Skemp made 11-15 shots from the floor and all eight of his free throws, as unranked Platteville joined the No. 6 Warhawks at the top of the standings.
Skemp scored 30 points, the most by a Platteville player in three years.
The seventh-ranked Pointers used a 20-3 run to beat UW-Eau Claire 57-44, while No. 20 UW-Oshkosh had the night off.
In WIAC women’s play, No. 25 Eau Claire improved 8-0 with a 62-54 victory over No. 11 UW-Stevens Point.
UW-Whitewater remains in second place, a game off the pace. The third-ranked Warhawks crushed UW-Platteville 85-63.
