The Hammond Police Department and United Fire and Rescue Hammond Station have confirmed that Santa is coming to town on Dec. 12 at 10 a.m.

Both departments will assist Santa in landing his sleigh at a secret location. Attendees will be able to hear Santa’s radio communication between the police and the fire department during Santa’s approach to town and his landing.

Santa will then be escorted on top of a fire truck down Main Street to the fire station, 1055 Clyde Hanson Drive, where he’ll visit with the children.

Santa’s visit will be held during the United Fire and Rescue Hammond Station’s Annual Open House on Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children and adults will also be able to tour the fire station and visit with firefighters and police officers.

United Fire and Rescue Hammond Station will also be accepting new unwrapped gifts to be given to the Holiday Angels program. They will also be accepting non-perishable food items for the local food shelf.

The 2009 Hammond Heartland Days Royalty will also be present during Santa’s visit.
