Tiger powerlifters qualify to compete at state level

Two New Richmond High School powerlifters have qualified to compete at the state level.

Two New Richmond High School powerlifters have qualified to compete at the state level.

Five other Tiger lifters will have a chance to qualify for state in another meet that will be held at the end of February.

Qualifying for state are Bryan Greene and Derek Briese. Greene qualified for state in the 220-pound class and Briese qualified in the 132-pound class. They qualified for state at a meet held at Osceola on Jan. 16.

Greene qualified for state by having lifts totalling 1,135 pounds. The state qualifying standard for the 220-pound class is 1,100 pounds.

Briese advanced to state with his lifts totaling 915 pounds. The qualifying standard for the 132-pound class for state is 900 pounds.

Also competing for New Richmond at the Osceola meet were Jamie Noye, Patrick Kletschka and Buck O’Flanagan. Other members of the New Richmond power lifting club are A.J. Wallace and Dillan Quist. The lifting club is advised by Brian Kaczmarski and Brandon Paletta.

The state meet will be held during the final weekend in March. High school lifters can also qualify for the national meet, which will be held in Wisconsin Dells two weeks after the state meet.
