More runners than expected are signing up for the Green Bay Marathon on May 18.

Sign-ups are running about 50-percent ahead of last year at this time and organizers now expect more than 8,000 people to take part – much more than last year’s total of 6,200.

That includes three races; a full marathon, a half-marathon, and a five-kilometer event.

Wednesday is the deadline before the entry fee rises, but officials are not sure if the pace will slow down a lot.

Race director Sean Ryan says they have not imposed a limit, but they’re thinking about it. They said they need to make sure they have enough T-shirts and awards on hand.
