Duane O. Wright, age 85, of Cylon Township, Wis., died April 12, 2010, as a result of an accident at his home.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1924, in Marathon, Iowa. Duane married Mary Hennessy on Sept. 3, 1949. They lived in Minneapolis for a short period of time and bought their home farm in 1951. In his younger days, he liked to ride horses and wear cowboy hats.
Duane worked for the St. Croix Highway Department operating heavy equipment, sometimes stopping to pluck a small tree from the ditch to plant at their home. He loved building roads throughout St. Croix County. Duane’s love of the land can be seen by his beautiful yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Gladys (Donaldson) Wright; wife, Mary Catherine (Hennessy); sister, Verneil Olson; brothers, Dallas and Don.
He is survived by his children, Patricia “Pat” Thornby, Kathleen “Kathy” Sand, and Duane “DJ” (Jasmine) Wright; brother, Dean (Azalea) Wright; also seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday April 16, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Richmond, Wis. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home, 307 S. Arch Ave., New Richmond. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Richmond.
