Lightning strikes, burns barn

Lightning struck a barn at 1516 110th Ave., in the Town of Hammond mid-Tuesday morning causing a large fire. The fire burned most of the roof area and other parts of the barn in about an hour. No other buildings were ignited.

The property is listed as belonging to Charlie Vandusartz.

Dispatch reported there was wood and some personal belongings inside.

United Fire and Rescue and Roberts-Warren Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene at about 10:30 a.m. Later, a tanker was called from the New Richmond Fire Department and an ambulance stood by.
