Wallace Ervin Parent, age 87, Somerset, Wis., June 7, 1922 - May 16, 2010.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Amable Jr. and Katheryn (Harrington) Parent; sisters, Viola Phaneuf, Marcella Landry; brother, Clarence Parent; and his first wife, June (Kellaher) Parent.
Wallace was a lifelong resident of Somerset and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He served in WWII in the glider section of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was part of the troops that landed behind the German lines prior to the Normandy invasion. He saw action at the Battle of the Bulge. Wallace retired from Andersen Windows after 35 years of service.
He enjoyed horseshoes, watching sports, playing bingo, and his friends at the Somerset Senior Center. He was a proud member of the American Legion in Somerset.
Wallace is survived by his wife, Gertie; children, Susan (Bob) Whitty, Carol (Ron) Germain, Marcia Dettling, John (Kathy) Parent, Marlys Parent, Nancy (Rick) Flandrick; stepchildren, Connie (David) Carufel, Herb (Ellen) Becker, Gerald (Janelle) Becker, Jeffrey (Sally) Becker; brother, Harris (Marlene); sisters, Eileen Rivard, Camilla Langness, LaVerne (Ray) Mealey; 22 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; also numerous friends and relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday May 19, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Somerset. Visitation 1-1/2 hours prior to the service at the church. Interment parish cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Anne’s Church in lieu of flowers.
