The opponent that Justice Harvieux drew in the WIAA Division 1 sectional tournament wasn’t your ordinary average high school tennis player.

Brian Miles, the senior from Wausau East, went on to win the sectional championship in last Wednesday’s sectional tournament in Wausau. Miles didn’t play high school tennis a year ago. That’s because he spent his junior year attending a tennis academy in California for the whole school year.

Harvieux put up a good battle against Miles in the opening round of the sectional tournament. A number of the games went to deuce, but Harvieux ended up taking a 6-2, 6-1 loss in the match.

Harvieux ends the season with an 11-11 record, with all his matches played at one singles.

“Justice played his heart out,” Tiger coach Mike Montello said of the sectional match. “He represented New Richmond well. He’s got great demeanor on the court. He always plays with class.”
