Marlis Noreen Lawrence, age 74, of New Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Arthur Rose LLC in New Richmond.
Marlis was born the daughter of William and Emma (Schultz) Scheel on Nov. 30, 1935, in Rice Lake, Wis. She went to grade school in Hillsdale and attended Barron High School. Marlis married Eldon Lawrence on Jan. 17, 1953, in Dallas, Wis. Marlis worked as a waitress at the Next Door Café, The Laurel, and the New Richmond Golf Club. She was also a partner in the family business, Lawrence Pest Control.
She loved to shop and was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, attending many Brewer games. Marlis was a very active member of New Life Family Church. She was a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother, who set an example in her life by serving others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Scheel; brothers, Cyril Scheel and Oren Scheel; and sister, Lanita Borgen.
Marlis is survived by her husband, Eldon Lawrence; children, Brad (Jean) Lawrence, Lonnie Lawrence, and Janelle (Rodney) Forrest; grandchildren, Lindsy Lawrence, James (Katie) Lawrence, Kristin (Bobby) Rodgers, Kevin (Andrea) Forrest and Aaron (Amy) Forrest; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, Colin, Ashley, and Nicholas; sister, Isla Herdahl; and many, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at the Living Word Chapel, 2746 Highway 64, Forest, Wis. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Sheridan Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Ridgeland, Wis.
