A Clear Lake, Wis. man died following a two-vehicle accident at 4:49 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.
Polk County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene of the accident at County Road A, west of State Highway 46 in Black Brook Township.
According to the report, Thomas T. Schwartz, 53, Clear Lake, was traveling westbound on County Road A on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He reportedly completed a pass of a westbound vehicle when he lost control of his motorcycle and entered the eastbound lane where he struck a 1998 Chevrolet pickup being driven by Charles A. Clark, 49, Clear Lake.
The Schwartz motorcycle then burst into flames. Schwartz was ejected from the motorcycle and he landed in the south ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Deputy Polk County Medical Examiner. Clark was not injured.
The incident was the first fatal crash in Polk County in 2010.
