New Richmond girls win fourth straight conference cross country title

The New Richmond girls didn’t have any of the top eight runners, yet they won the 2010 championship by 10 points over second place Somerset. Junior Morgan Kelly was New Richmond’s top finisher, taking ninth place. She led a wave of black uniforms, as the Tigers were six of the nine finishers in that group.
That gave the Tigers the championship with 58 points. This is the fourth straight MBC championship won by the Tiger girls.
Somerset built on top seven finishes from Tia Belter, Monica Emerson and Sara Henry to take second place with 68 points.
Prescott’s Victoria Simones was the girls overall champion, finishing seven seconds ahead of Belter.
Ellsworth didn’t have any of the top three runners in the boys race. The Panthers did take the four through seven places, leading them to the boys championship. Ellsworth finished with 40 points, while Amery took second place with 53 points.
Amery’s Stephen Monette and Caleb Andrews were the top two finishers in the boys race.
