St. Croix County Emergency Management warns building owners of the dangerous weight of snow on rooftops.

St. Croix County Emergency Management warns building owners of the dangerous weight of snow on rooftops.

St. Croix County and surrounding counties received up to 23 inches of snow in the last few weeks, and with a forecast of freezing rain and additional snow, many rooftops may be reaching the point where they are in danger of collapsing. Rooftops at the highest risk are those with wide unsupported spans, flat rooftops or rooftops with minimal slopes. Emergency Management warns rooftops can be dangerous. Extreme care must be taken in the removal of snow from rooftops. If owners are unsure or unable to remove the snow themselves a professional may be hired.

St. Croix County Emergency Management reminds everyone to be safe and take proper precautions to avoid injury.
