Polk County deputies responded to a head-on collision in the town of Osceola Sunday morning.
The crash, on Hwy. 35 just north of 90th Avenue, happened at 5:42 a.m., according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.
Christopher G. Evenson, 34, of Grantsburg, was traveling south on Hwy. 25 when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a vehicle driven by Heather M. Hughes, 20, of Fairfield, Mont. Hughes was accompanied by Cole R. Johnson, 24, and Olivia N. Johnson, 9 months.
Evenson was extricated from his vehicle by Dresser and Osceola fire departments and flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Cole Johnson was transferred to Osceola Medical Center and later flown to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn., for further treatment of his injuries. Heather Hughes and Olivia Johnson were later transported to North Memorial Hospital by ground ambulance.
According to the press release, seatbelt and alcohol use are suspected contributing factors in this crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.
