WITC business students compete in state event

The Business Professionals of America-New Richmond Chapter recently traveled to Rice Lake to compete against other Wisconsin technical colleges in leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.

The Business Professionals of America-New Richmond Chapter recently traveled to Rice Lake to compete against other Wisconsin technical colleges in leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.

Faculty advisor for the WITC-New Richmond chapter is Linda Richie.

Those who placed at the state competition include:

Selena Buerkle: payroll accounting (first place), federal income tax accounting (second place) and managerial accounting (fifth place).

Tracy Geving: payroll accounting (fifth place).

Lowell Setterlund: parliamentary procedure (second place).

Patricia Roettger: extemporaneous speech (fifth place), administrative support team (fifth place), keyboarding production (second place) and advanced office systems (third place).

Amanda Kuske: keyboarding production (fifth place) and medical transcription (third place).

Stephanie Formo: desktop publishing (second place) and advance word processing skills (third place).

Gayleen Farrier: extemporaneous speech (second place), administrative support team (fifth place), medical office procedures (fifth place), administrative support concepts (fifth place) and management/marketing/human resource concepts (third place).

Jenny Hojem: administrative support team (fifth place).

Terri Rydeen: administrative support concepts (third place) and interview skills (second place).

Several of these students are now fundraising so they may continue on to the National Competition in Washington, D.C. this spring.
