Western Wisconsin man dies in car vs. semi crash
A St. Croix Falls man died Friday morning as a result of a car versus semi accident on Hwy. 8.
A St. Croix Falls man died Friday morning as a result of a car versus semi accident on Hwy. 8.
Denis P. Bayle, 53, was driving a 2002 Buick Century when he pulled out from the stoplight at Glacier Drive and into the path of the semi. At the time of the crash, the stop lights were flashing amber for east and west traffic on U.S. Hwy. 8 and red for north and south traffic on Glacier, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Department.
The accident occurred at 10:59 a.m. Friday, April 1. St. Croix Falls police and St. Croix Falls firefighters, along with the Polk County Sheriff's Department, were dispatched to the scene.
Witness statements indicated that Ricky Lee Holly, 36, of Allegan, Mich. was traveling east on Hwy. 8, operating a 1999 Volvo semi-tractor with a trailer. As Holly approached the intersection with Glacier Drive, Bayle apparently pulled out.
Bayle was extricated from his vehicle and taken to the St. Croix Regional Medical Center, where he died after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The crash remains under investigatin.
