Led by two championships won by Ronda Bierbrauer, local bowlers performed quite well in the Wisconsin Women’s 500 Club Bowling Tournament.
Awards for the tournament were presented at the women’s bowling state meeting in Brookfield on March 11.
Bierbrauer won championships in two singles competitions. She took first place among 68 entries in the Division 3 singles competition, with a handicap score of 779. She was also the champion among 64 entries in the Division 3 All Events category. She won with a score of 1,477.
Bierbrauer was also part of the team that took fourth place in the Division 3 doubles division, among 48 teams. She was teamed with Delta Johnston to take fourth place. Local bowlers Mary Bentley and Elizabeth Ziegler also placed in that division, taking 10th place.
Johnston also placed in two individual categories. She took eighth among 76 entries in Division 2 singles. She finished in ninth place among 75 entries in the Division 2 All Events category.
Bierbrauer has been bowling on teams in New Richmond since joining the Krueger’s Super Valu team in 1987. For several years she sponsored her own team and served as league president. Later she would serve as secretary for leagues on Tuesday and Sunday nights.
In 2008 Bierbrauer took the post as association manager for the Western Wisconsin Women’s Bowling Association. She has bowled in many tournaments through the years, including competing in the Lions State Tournament for the past 15 years.
