Tree crashes down on New Richmond homes

The tree came down on two adjoining houses along East Lincoln Road in New Richmond.
It started out as a quiet evening at home for Vicky Peterson of New Richmond.
But as she settled in for a relaxing night Wednesday, June 15, a crashing sound interrupted the stillness.
After several days of wet weather, a large tree in the neighbor's yard along East Lincoln Road apparently gave way under the pressure of too much moisture.
A large portion of the tree came crashing down on Peterson's home, as well as the neighbor's home.
"It was quite shocking," Peterson said.
A tree service was scheduled to clean up the mess sometime Thursday, she said.
