Preschoolers at First Lutheran Church raised $315 for cancer and are still going strong.
The preschoolers completed a cancer walk on Oct. 26 after learning about community service in school, said teacher Niccy Omann.
The students each turned in a pledge sheet and eventually will help write the check to send to a local hospital.
At about 10:25 a.m., 30 students dressed in various shades of pink and bundled up in their coats, hats and mittens and headed out the door of First Lutheran Church, 258 N. Third St.
A start and finish line marked the route the preschoolers took. Along the way, students took in the scenery, pointing out decorations at each house.
“The kids had a blast,” Omann said.
Overall the walk was successful and as students rounded the last corner of the block, parents gathered on the sidewalk to cheer their children on.
