After 16 years working as the UW Extension Nutrition Educator for St. Croix County, Martha Mabis is retiring on Feb. 2.
Mabis worked with many families throughout the years, helping them learn practical ways to plan healthy meals and save money at the grocery store.
“I’ll miss working with all the young families and watching their children grow,” she said.
Young parents will miss her too. As one young mom said, “Martha has been like a second mother to me.”
Mabis plans to continue volunteering with UW Extension by teaching classes at Early Head Start. She will have time to do more activities with her family, which includes four children and eight grandchildren.
Going camping and fishing with husband Howard are high on her list of fun plans, as well as attending an occasional Green Bay Packer football game.
The public is invited to share good wishes with Mabis at an open house at the Ag Service and Education Center in Baldwin on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. A program is planned for 3 p.m.
