Town Board Minutes

January 3, 2012

The Town Board meeting was called to order on January 3, 2012 at 7:07 p.m. at the Star Prairie Town Hall - 2118 Cook Drive, Somerset, WI 54025. Present: Doug Rivard; Steve Lewis; Patty Schachtner; Thomas Heintz; Michael Burke; Scott Counter; and Tim Scott, attorney.

Agenda – Motion to approve agenda. Lewis/Heintz. Motion carried.

Public Comments

* Jim Klemesrud of 1206 County Road C, wanted the town board to know that there is an error on the Xcel Energy transmission line map. A sliver of land at the intersection of 205th and 90th Street was identified as being owned by the township. The map is incorrect, that land is actually owned by Adeline Cloutier.

Approval of Minutes – Motion to approve the December 6, 2011 minutes as published and circulated. Counter/Lewis. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report – Motion to approve the treasurer’s report for December 2011. Lewis/Heintz. Motion carried.

Building Permits – Read by Rivard. Motion to approve the building permits for December 2011. Lewis/Schachtner. Motion carried.

New Richmond Fire & Rescue District Contract Agreement – Motion to table any decisions on the contract until the next New Richmond Fire & Rescue meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. Schachtner/Lewis. Roll call vote: 4-0 Motion carried. Rivard abstained.

Plan Commission – Kirk Hexum – Minor Subdivision Application – Motion to accept the recommendations made by the Plan Commission as they pertain to the Kirk Hexum application. Schachtner/Lewis. Roll call vote 5-0. Motion carried.

Motion to accept Lot 1 and Lot 2 as being zoned “commercial” which is consistent with the town’s Comprehensive Plan. Counter/Lewis. Roll call vote 5-0. Motion carried.

Purchase of Property - 2062 County Road C – Motion have to have Tim Scott, attorney, represent the township and draft an agreement between the township and Shawn Bird for the purchase of the property at 2062 County Road C. The township would cover all of Shawn Bird’s expenses pertaining to the purchase of the property. The agreement would also indemnify him against any court action associated with this purchase. Counter/Lewis. Roll call vote: 5-0. Motion carried.

Purchase of Property – 2062 County Road C – Motion to utilize Park Fund dollars to pay the $35,000 purchase price. Counter/Heintz. Roll call vote 5-0. Motion carried.

Approval of Town Bills and Adjourn – Motion to pay the town’s bills and adjourn. Heintz/Lewis. Motion carried. 8:26 p.m.
