In celebration of the 100th day of school, the Somerset Elementary School Student Council sponsored a food drive. The goal was to have each grade level, kindergarten through fourth, donate 100 food items. The students well surpassed their goal. Last Friday, Feb. 3, the student council members packed 1,090 food items that were brought to Grace Place that afternoon for the food shelf and backpack program. Salvation Army Grace Place Director Duanna Bremer was very appreciative of the donation. “That’s really exciting. To get that much food right now, that’s huge,” she said. Bremer said the need for food at local food shelves is increasing, so Grace Place is very fortunate to have students in the community able to donate so many items.
