Two St. Croix Central football players announce their college plans
St. Croix Central seniors Korey Jacobson and Lauden Wood signed national letters of intent in recent days to play college football.

St. Croix Central seniors Korey Jacobson and Lauden Wood signed national letters of intent in recent days to play college football.
Jacobson will be playing at Minnesota State University-Moorhead, while Wood is headed to Winona State University.
Jacobson made his decision to attend Moorhead while on a visit to the school, becoming the first player to verbally commit to the program. Moorhead head coach Steve Laqua said his staff envisions Jacobson as a safety, but he could also become a cornerback.
“His speed really excites us,” Laqua said.
Jacobson played halfback, linebacker and defensive back at Central and Laqua said his versatility was a selling point in his recruitment.
Jacobson said he was told by the coaches that he has a chance to play right away and that he is one of three safeties competing for a starting position next season.
Jacobson is the son of Nancy and David Jacobson.
Wood will play linebacker at Winona State. He was recruited by several schools in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, and also St. Thomas, but Winona always had the upper hand. Wood said he was impressed that the coaches didn’t just view him as a football player, but appreciated his numerous activities like church mission trips and being involved in SOS. Wood said he plans to major in business management and marketing.
Both Jacobson and Wood spoke about the dedication of the boys in their class to become successful as a group. Jacobson said the boys have all talked about dedicating themselves to being successful and they stayed true to their objective. Wood said the hard work became a group effort with the class and now they enjoy pushing themselves to reach their goals.
