Somerset Fire/Rescue respond to suicide attempt

Somerset Fire/Rescue responded to a suicide attempt on the St. Croix River high bridge at 360 180th Ave. in Somerset Township.

Somerset Fire/Rescue responded to a suicide attempt on the St. Croix River high bridge at 360 180th Ave. in Somerset Township.

The 911 call was received one minute after midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from a friend of the individual.

St. Croix County Sheriff John Shilts said the subject attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge, but got entangled in a piece of the bridge.

Somerset Fire/Rescue, with help from the Somerset Police Department, pulled the individual to safety using a stokes basket at approximately 12:12 a.m.

The individual was transferred via Lakeview Ambulance and treated for unknown injuries.
