EDITORIAL: City residents get chance to be part of process

As the New Richmond City Council and Utilities Commission inch closer to a decision on the next city administrator and utilities manager who will help lead the community, the public is invited to be part of the process.

At a special open house on Friday, March 2, at Lola’s Restaurant, the five candidates for the city’s top post will be on hand to meet local folks and answer informal questions about themselves, their families and their backgrounds.

With the help of local residents, elected officials and utilities officials will get a good indication about how the various candidates interact with people and with city employees. It will be important for the new administrator to communicate well and be a visible part of the community. The evening event should help identify who might fill that bill the best for New Richmond.

If you’re around, and want to be a part of the night, stop by at 5 p.m. and join the review and screening process. We’ll likely know who the next city administrator and utilities manager will be a day or two later.
