The Somerset FBLA chapter stood out again in its regional competition and that effort means six chapter members will be competing at the 2012 state convention.
To qualify for state, students must have finished in the top three in their area of competition. The Somerset students who advanced to state and their regional finishes include:
First place: Digital Video Production: Megan Duggan and Aminah Henne
First place: HealthCare Administration: Kaylin Peterson
Second place: Website Design: Jessica Wishard and Kim Lynner
Third place: Sports Management: Brontae Berkhoel
The FBLA state convention will be held in La Crosse on April 2-3. Thirteen Somerset entries placed within the top seven in their field in the regional competition, which was held on Feb. 4 in Superior.
Duggan has also earned her way into the second level in the FBLA national Business Achievement Awards program. She did this by teaming with Henne to take first place in the Digital Video Production entry. Duggan said she spent two hours a night for several weeks working on the video project. She said she plans to refilm many of the scenes before state, hoping to add a more dramatic theme or tone.
Duggan is a senior who plans to attend the University of St. Thomas this fall, where she will study business.
