Somerset Middle School Drama has been busy preparing for their upcoming play “The Legend of Katastrophe Kate” by Stephen Murray. The young thespians have been divided into two casts to accommodate their amazing talents. Each cast will perform twice and each has its own unique “flavor.” Performances are scheduled for Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m. in the Burgundy commons area of the middle school. Feel free to contribute a non-perishable food item for admission to the play. Concessions will be available – and yes there will be chili for sale! Come on in and enjoy the show!

This Tex-Mex tall tale begins when Katherine, a mild-mannered, Eastern born and bred protégé of world-famous chef, Madame Julia Enfant, must transform herself into Katastrophe Kate in order to conquer the Wild West with her chili recipe. In a steamy cook-off at Miss Lillian’s Saloon, Kate also has a little romance simmerin’ on the back burner with her arch rival, Jose Habanero, who claims to have hottest chili in the Southwest. Into the melting we’ve thrown some dancin’ girls called the Fosse Posse, a dash of international outlaws for spice, peppered it with a prying reporter named Penelope Penmore, and we came up with a recipe for one red-hot, Texas chili party!
