An increase in clients coupled with space constraints at their former location in Somerset forced co-owners Jamie Mason and Amy Hering of Family Therapy Associates to relocate to New Richmond late last year.
Mason and Hering went into practice together in December 2010 when they opened Family Therapy Associates and began serving the greater St. Croix County area. They said they attribute the growth of their practice to their seasoned therapists and referrals from existing clients, teachers and doctors.
The therapy provided within the walls of the 1477 S. Knowles Ave. business is multi-faceted. The therapists, all experienced and licensed, each have an area of expertise that makes them unique. Although they differ in their area of focus, the common purpose of providing the highest standard of care unites them, said Hering.
From children and families to couples and relationships, the therapists provide specialized therapy to individuals, families, couples and groups. Throughout the year, the therapists lead workshops on such topics as anger management for children and parenting a child with ADHD.
Although the counselors are adept in providing therapy in many different areas, Hering said a lot of the referrals pertain to ADHD/ADD, anxiety, depression and divorce.
The economic downturn has brought more clients who are looking for coping strategies to help deal with financial stress, foreclosure and job loss, Hering said.
