The sectional championship will be played at 7 p.m. on Saturday at River Falls High School.
Somerset advance to the sectional championship with a superb performance in defeating Northwestern 63-35 in the sectional semifinal at New Richmond.
The first quarter of Thursday’s sectional semifinal was played evenly, but Somerset began to take charge in the second quarter. Sophomore center Gaelin Elmore had a huge quarter, scoring 11 points, as the Spartans led 32-24 at halftime.
Somerset’s defense took center stage in the third quarter, holding Northwestern to four points while the Spartans scored 19.
Elmore finished the game with 21 points. The rest of the Somerset scoring was well dispersed among eight other players.
