LETTER: J. ‘Blood’ deserves recognition

To the Editor:
I’ve been pursuing funds for the Johnny “Blood” McNally athletic complex through the New Richmond Area Community Foundation (501c3) tax exempt fund and donations have been trickling in. People haven’t been donating as I expected.
My friends (still have a few) who have been telling me for quite some time that they are going to donate haven’t come to reality yet. I’ve even heard I’m doomed to fail in this pursuit. Well, doomed is not in my lexicon. But the saying “short arms and deep pockets” is.
I’m one that has his glass more than half full, and this project will become a reality.
I haven’t called my committee together yet (Pierce McNally, Dick Simma, Jeff Moberg, Jim Heebink, myself and John Doar, or counsel), but if need be we can start requesting donations. (It won’t come to this.)
I’m asking for donations for this project because New Richmond, “The City Beautiful,” has a hometown hero who is a charter member of the NFL Football Hall of Fame – Johnny “Blood” McNally.
Some people have an excuse for everything, or may have bad memories of “Blood,” but come to reality and accept the fact that he is a “hometown boy” and enshrined in Canton, Ohio in the Football Hall of Fame. That’s something to be proud of, especially if you know about the history of Johnny and the Green Bay Packers.
Please donate to this project soon, at NRACF, P.O. Box 96, New Richmond, Wis. 54017 (tax exempt).
