To the Editor:
After reading a couple of published Letters to the Editor in western Wisconsin, allegations of vandalism and theft of opposition signs from area properties have been brought to our attention.
We at Highland Wind Farm LLC want to state in no uncertain terms that we are deeply concerned by the charges and will work with authorities as needed to end the theft of people’s signs.
Those who have brought this issue to light have offered a $100 reward for information about those who may be responsible for the thefts. HWF will offer an additional $500 for the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators and stop this assault on first amendment rights.
While we realize passions are running high over the proposed wind project, we in no way condone these thefts or any other attempt to impede the exercise of free speech by town residents. In fact, we encourage all individuals to participate in the regulatory review process at the Public Service Commission.”
